With the exception of Mr. Jones, 1994 was the year lip syncs halted to make way for new covers! Please do note the shows listed here are just an estimate — some of these may be from late 1993 and/or 1995. This would be the first time in 4 years the entire gang got in the studio to record new content together. This rampant increase in show production was due to the “New” Rock-afire Explosion debuting the year prior; the first location with a Show Selector opening in November of 1993. The unfortunate thing about these shows is this was the year the quality began to dip. While it’s unknown who the previous programmer was, they were replaced in favor of Kathy McCracken and her assistant Joelle Ramsey. While the programming isn’t the most awful thing in the world, it can definitely be very awkward, especially on shows like “A Whole New World” and “Vogue”. This, however, does not negate the fact that these are fun shows to watch!
Most if not all of these shows were recorded using karaoke tracks, likely due to low budget. BFM Hits seemed to be their go-to for instrumental, and you can even listen to the original tracks on Spotify!
Some of these shows are particularly interesting because they were done as lip syncs in previous years; these shows include “Vogue”, “Material Girl”, “Stop! In the Name of Love”, “Friends In Low Places”, and “Two Princes”.
A few of these covers remain lost for unknown reasons. These include “Monster Mash”, “Two Princes”, “Sweet Home Alabama”, “My Guy”, and “I Am the Cute One”, “Vogue”, and “Material Girl”. Several of these have karaoke versions that can be heard on YouTube. Jack Turner teased a small clip of the "Vogue" cover on an Instagram livestream, and a clip of the "Material Girl" cover on his Instagram story.
